Oh,btw...
Today after going to Swiss days(see post below),Brett and i went to SLC to try to find another Mediterranean restaurant that we've never been to.It happen to be closed today, but even more exciting was that there was a store where i found all the stuff from Croatia!I thought there was no more stores open after the one on the main street closed.
How great is that!Brett was pretty excited as well! This store is located on 2850 S. Redwood RD. A-1,SLC.

Finally a weekend off!

Brett and i decided a while ago to go to Midway for Swiss days this Saturday. It's a 2 days event i hear it usually happens on Labor day weekend every year.We haven't been before, but it turned out to be pretty fun. Here are some pictures...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Brett turns 28 today! He thinks he's old,but i think - NOT!We've been married for over 4 yrs now and he has been the most wonderful husband ever. There are many reasons why i love my husband, but here's just few...(so cheesy, but true)
- he's positive.every time i'm down he cheers me up in seconds.
- he's a people person.everyone who knows him would agree with me.
- he's cuddly :)
- he thinks deep and he's so creative
- he starts something and finish it.very ambitious!
- he takes care of me when i'm sick.
- he makes me laugh every day
- he has the cuttest smile.
- he's goofy
- he loves kids (especially his nephew Landon)
- he's a very good cook
- he quotes movies and does different voices-it's fun and makes me laugh.
- he is the best! :)

I guess i'm more corresponding with my friends on facebook, blogging is not my thing really,or i guess it would be more interesting to write if something exciting was going on.We just work all the time,we're no fun...
Anyhow,Brett and i have been on a pretty strict diet.Brett has kind of a high blood pressure, and i have had high blood sugar for about 3 months. So,i've been taking classes on diabetes to help me understand the whole thing a little better and to learn about nutrition.I have to really measure my food portions and watch the carbs.I've tried some things that i never thought i would like. Some of the healthy foods i wouldn't recommend to anyone, but on the other hand there's some things that i've enjoyed so far...,like

  • WHOLE GRAIN PASTA - love it!Have to tell you...i almost enjoy it more than white pasta.
  • BROWN RICE - same thing.Love it more than white rice.I like how it's almost crunchy when you cook it.
  • TURKEY BACON - still not the best choice, but lower in calories, sodium and fat.Tastes pretty good.
  • QUINOA - (a grain-like crop grown primarily for its edible seeds. It is a pseudocereal rather than a true cereal, or grain, as it is not a grass).I make quinoa pilaf with some vegetables as a side-dish,and it's yummi. You can also have as a cereal, but i haven't tried it that way yet.I get it at "Good Earth",but i hear they start to have it elsewhere.
  • FAT FREE COTTAGE CHEESE - i find it delicious only when i mix it with fresh fruit or some salsa.
Just some of the things from my "healthy" list.I've been actually feeling a lot better eating what i'm suppose to.We both lost some weight and i manage to keep my blood sugar on average levels and Brett's high blood pressure seems to be lower.
We've been doing pretty good, except it's kinda hard to come up with easy healty recipes.
Any suggestions for us?

It seems i haven't been able to find a time to write since we came back from Croatia.Yes,we finally went back and visit for 3 weeks!!We were planning on going in September, but unfortunately, under very sad circumstances we were forced to leave earlier.I am very sad to notify all of you who haven't heard yet that my Dad has past away on May 17th.We got there just before the funeral on the 22nd.He died in his sleep and person who did autopsy said that it happened quickly and that my Dad didn't feel any pain. The aorta in between neck and heart got clogged.
I have to tell you how glad i am that my Dad visited us here about 2 yrs ago and he spent time with us.He painted our whole house on the outside and i was just amazed. My Dad was type of the person who always thought about everybody else but himself. He was very unselfish, very giving, very friendly to everybody, such a hard worker.I will always be thankful to him for teaching me to have respect for other people and to be friendly. He always was very positive and he liked to make jokes. He loved his family and i enjoyed seeing him get close to my husband. They had fun together.
My Dad liked to draw,be creative with everything. He worked with marble and granite. He loved animals and liked watching wild life documentaries more than anything on tv.He absolutely loved outdoors.
I am sure he loves it where he is right now, because it is a better place.I am so grateful for my knowledge of what happens after this life.I miss my Dad,but i know i will enjoy his company some day
again.
