Anyhow,Brett and i have been on a pretty strict diet.Brett has kind of a high blood pressure, and i have had high blood sugar for about 3 months. So,i've been taking classes on diabetes to help me understand the whole thing a little better and to learn about nutrition.I have to really measure my food portions and watch the carbs.I've tried some things that i never thought i would like. Some of the healthy foods i wouldn't recommend to anyone, but on the other hand there's some things that i've enjoyed so far...,like
- WHOLE GRAIN PASTA - love it!Have to tell you...i almost enjoy it more than white pasta.
- BROWN RICE - same thing.Love it more than white rice.I like how it's almost crunchy when you cook it.
- TURKEY BACON - still not the best choice, but lower in calories, sodium and fat.Tastes pretty good.
- QUINOA - (a grain-like crop grown primarily for its edible seeds. It is a pseudocereal rather than a true cereal, or grain, as it is not a grass).I make quinoa pilaf with some vegetables as a side-dish,and it's yummi. You can also have as a cereal, but i haven't tried it that way yet.I get it at "Good Earth",but i hear they start to have it elsewhere.
- FAT FREE COTTAGE CHEESE - i find it delicious only when i mix it with fresh fruit or some salsa.
We've been doing pretty good, except it's kinda hard to come up with easy healty recipes.
Any suggestions for us?
